My great-great grandfather George Readings (1834-1915) lived in Overton and married Anne Purdue (1835-1901) on 30th March 1863. Their son Tom (1863-1954) was my great-grandfather, whom I just remember as I was 4 when he died. Was Anne a daughter of Robert Purdue? The family tradition is that the Purdue family, originally from Devon, were bellfounders, but Cromwell killed the trade, and they settled as farmers in Hampshire.Douglas Readings
